We provide a number of surgical solutions for conditions affecting your aortic, mitral or tricuspid valves, including:

Stenosis

There are several causes for heart valves to function improperly. They can thicken, become hardened or stick together – all of which can prevent the valve from opening correctly. When this happens, the heart has to work harder to pump blood through the malfunctioning valve.
Valvular stenosis can be caused by valvular diseases, which are more common as you get older. However, some people are born with congenital defects that can cause valves to open irregularly.
Surgical correction of valvular stenosis is a major procedure that can cure the condition.

Incompetence, Insufficiency or Regurgitation

A heart valve has three leaves that open to allow blood to flow from one chamber of the heart to another and close to prevent blood from flowing the wrong way. When heart valves do not close properly, blood can flow backwards through the valve.
Valve disease that causes incompetence, insufficiency or regurgitation can be caused by a congenital defect that developed before birth, or an infection, such as infective endocarditis or rheumatic fever.
Surgical repair can successfully treat valvular defects.
